Inspection before use
Vehicle Appearance: Carefully inspect the body of the balance bike for cracks, breaks, etc. Pay special attention to key parts such as pedals, wheel hubs and frame joints. For example, if the pedals are cracked, they may break during use, causing the user to fall and get hurt.
Tire Condition: Check to see if the tires are worn and the tire pressure is normal. Heavily worn tires will have less grip and increase the risk of slipping. Proper tire pressure ensures the stability of the balance bike; too high or too low tire pressure may affect the riding experience and safety.
Power level or power indicator: For electric balance bikes, check whether the power level is sufficient. Insufficient power may cause the balance bike to be underpowered and stop suddenly during traveling, triggering danger. Some balance bikes have a power indicator light, which can be used to determine whether the power is sufficient.
Sensors and connecting parts: Check whether the sensors of the balance bike are working properly. Sensors are key components that ensure the balance bike can respond to the user's body movements. If the sensors are faulty, the balance bike may not be able to sense the user's intention correctly and go out of control. At the same time, check whether the connecting parts are firm, such as the connection between the handlebar (if any) and the body.
Riding Safety Precautions
Wear protective equipment: To prevent injuries from falls, it is recommended to wear protective equipment such as helmets, knee pads, elbow pads and hand guards. Helmets can effectively protect the head from injury, while knee pads, elbow pads and hand guards can reduce injuries to the joints and skin of the limbs in the event of a fall.
Choose a suitable venue: Try to ride on a flat, dry, obstacle-free venue, such as a square or a flat road in a park. Avoid riding on rugged roads, places with standing water, slopes with large gradient or roads with heavy traffic. On rough roads, the balance bike will lose balance easily; standing water may damage the motor and circuitry; slopes may lead to uncontrollable speed; riding on traffic roads also violates traffic rules and is prone to traffic accidents.
Control the speed and direction: In the process of riding, pay attention to reasonable control of the speed and direction of the balance bike. Especially for beginners, the speed should not be too fast, so as not to be able to respond to unexpected situations. When changing direction, you should turn your body slowly and smoothly or use the handlebar (if available) to steer the balance bike. Sudden and drastic steering or sharp braking may lead to a fall.
Be aware of your surroundings and pedestrians: Always be aware of your surroundings, including other pedestrians, vehicles and obstacles. Keep a safe enough distance to avoid collisions. If you are riding in a crowded area, reduce speed and make evasive maneuvers in advance. When encountering an obstacle, judge in advance and slow down to go around or cross smoothly (if the obstacle is small).
Avoid overloading: Different models of balance bikes have different load limits, which should be strictly adhered to. Overloading will affect the performance of the balance bike, increase the burden on the motor, resulting in insufficient power, faster battery loss, and may even damage the frame and other components of the balance bike, as well as increase the danger of riding.
Storage and Maintenance
Storage environment: When the balance bike is not in use, choose a suitable storage place. It is best to store in a dry, well-ventilated indoor environment, avoiding direct sunlight and humidity. Prolonged exposure to sunlight will accelerate the deterioration of plastic parts, and humid environments may lead to rusting of metal parts and moisture damage to electrical circuits.
Regular charging (for electric balance scooters): In the case of electric balance scooters, when they are not used for a long period of time, they should also be charged regularly to prevent the battery from being over-discharged. It is generally recommended to charge every one to two weeks, and the specific time interval can be determined according to the type of battery and the vehicle's instruction manual. Over-discharge will shorten the service life of the battery and affect the performance of the balance bike.
Cleaning and maintenance: Regularly clean the balance car to remove dust and dirt on the surface of the body. When cleaning, be careful to avoid water entering the motor and circuit parts. You can use a wet cloth to gently wipe the body, but do not directly rinse with water. For tires, you can use a brush to clean the debris in the tread to keep the tires in good performance.
